If you're running low on diskspace and badly need those extra gigs then this tutorial is definately for you.

Please note that if you regularly use the "hibernation" feature in windows then do not do this.

In basic terms you are going to be deleting the hibernation feature. When you click hibernate it writes off the data to yout hard-drive and saves it as a file called "hiberfil.sys".

Unfortunately this file cannot be deleted. However with the help of this tutorial you can delete it and free up at least 2-6 gigs.

Open up CMD in administrator mode.

Then type this in
powercfg -h off

Thats it, you should immediately notice that the hibernation feature is gone.

Check how much free memory you have on your C drive before you do this. Once completed, re-check how much free space you have and you should see a difference.

As you can see in the pic the "hiberfil.sys" is 4gb in size so it should defo make some free space.

Does it work on XP too?

I dont want to do it on my gaming PC before I know it's safe.
