The idea of the world as we know it coming to an end has been around for thousands of years. The Bible, Nostradamus, past and present civilizations, and Hollywood directors have all had their own versions of how the world will end. Most versions have the world ending in horrific disasters like giant tsunamis, worldwide pandemic, and nuclear warfare. Did you already survive the world ending though? Well read on to find out 7 dates that the world was supposed to end on, but didnt (including a few dates for the future).

1.) January 1, 1000 A.D.

The months leading up to the new millennium were tumultuous. Many pilgrims, knights, and others made a trip to Jerusalem, thinking that the Apocalypse and Armageddon was upon them. During their trip there, many died of disease and hunger. Some pilgrims even sold all their belongings in the hope that it would help them become one of the chosen few to ascend. Needless to say, the world was relatively safe when the calendar rolled over and many pilgrims were left homeless.

2.) Many dates in 1843 and 1844

There was this preacher named William Miller. He studied the Bible extensively and after doing some calculations, he became convinced that the world was going to end sometime in 1843. He double checked his answers for 4 years and then in 1822 went public in a document with his declaration. He said the world would end between March 21, 1843 and March 21, 1844. When nothing happened, he pushed the date back to April 18, 1844. Another man within this movement, now known as Millerism, predicted the final doomsday date of October 22, 1844. When nothing happened (again), it became known as The Great Disappointment. The Millerism movement weakened after that and the thousands of followers were left confused and in disbelief.

3.) March 10, 1982

Whats so special about March 10, 1982? Well on that day, the planets were all on the same side of the sun. While the planets were not exactly in a straight line, many people saw this event as a sign of the end times. The Jupiter Effect was supposed to wreak havoc over tidal forces, cause earthquakes and hurricanes, and almost every other natural disaster you can imagine. Well, were still here.

4.) January 1, 2000

The infamous Y2K situation. Futurists had visions of toasters attacking their owners with weaponized toast and lawn mowers chasing after gardeners. Governments around the world feared that computers and electronic systems would read the digits 00 as 1900, instead of 2000. There is no doubt that at least a few of the people who showed up in Times Square in New York that night were expecting to go out in a blaze of glory. Much to their dismay, the Y2K situation passed relatively harmlessly.

5.) June 6, 2006

If you write that date in short form, it comes out 6/6/06. As you may know, the number 666 is referred to as the sign of the devil. Religious sects were informing everyone they could that the Antichrist was returning to Earth and that people should prepare themselves. Either the Antichrist never came, or he got stuck in traffic because Earth still stands.

6.) December 21/23, 2012

This is quite possibly the most famous date for the end of the world. The date was predicted by the Mayans as the last date on their Long Count calendar. Other events are schedule to occur in 2012, causing more hype. One event includes the sun reaching a solar maximum (it might happen in early 2013). When it does that, the magnetic poles of the Earth supposedly might reverse, causing unimaginable damage. There is also a theory that a giant solar flare will incinerate the planet and if that wasnt enough, supervolcanoes will erupt and completely block out the sun for whatever life is left on the Earth.

7.) The year 3797

Nostradamus is seen as a prophet by many. His books of quatrains that are supposedly about future events are well known and documented. However, Nostradamuss prophecies stop abruptly at the year 3797. A sign of the end of the world? We will see. If it happens, please let me know so this article can be updated.


Rumor about march 21st 2011


Forget 2012, kids. The Aztecs had it all wrong. The world is going to end on May 21, 2011. Havent you heard the Awesome News, that Judgment Day is coming on May 21? Thats the day real estate values really shoot up: the rapture will occur, shooting all the deserving straight up to heaven on an express elevator of glory. The rest of the story isnt all fun and games though. We may get some choice picks of real estate and less planetary overcrowding (and definitely a few less annoying proselytizers coming to our doors) but thats while we endure 153 days of death and horror before it all comes to a spectacular end on October 21.

Will a massive Solar Flare destroy the earth?

These solar flares are also the cause behind the beautiful northern lights (aurora).

Solar flares (large bursts of gas from the sun) happen all the time. Approximately every 11 years or so, the sun seems to have an extra large burst of activity. 2012 was thought to be the end of the next 11 cycle where sun spots would start to appear as the tell tale sign of extra solar activity - i.e. solar flares (which stay close to the surface of the sun) and coronal mass ejections (which can travel millions of miles out into space). However, NASA scientists have said recently that it looks like the next cycle will come around in 2013 and not 2012.

So all the talk about solar flares has nothing to do with any end of the world 2012 prophecy, it's just part of the normal cycle of the sun.

Secondly, if earth was affected by a massive solar flare it would not actually "destroy" the earth but it could cause massive problems for anything depending on electricity. We are more vulnerable now with our all the things we need electricity for than we (the people on earth) were in 1859 when a solar storm blew out telegraph wires in Europe and America.

The important thing to understand is that the worst things that happen from sun flares are that there may be some electrical blackouts (the biggest ever was in Canada in 1989) and loss of radio and satellite communication. In a worst case scenario, these could last for months or more but that is a worst case scenario.

Governments are now looking at ways to (1) build early warning systems that the earth may be affected by a solar flare and (2) have good back up systems should power grids be affected.

Now while there is no scientific evidence to suggest the world will be destroyed by a solar flare in 2012, there are prophecies in the Bible which say that end time judgments on the earth (and 2012 is NOT given in the Bible as a date for the end of the world) will include negative affects from the heat of the sun.

Revelation 16:8-9 "And they fourth poured out his bowl upon the sun; and it was given to it to burn men with fire. And men were burned with great heat; and the blasphemed the name of God Who has the authority over these plagues; and they did not repent to give Him glory."


Will a giant asteroid cause pole shift of destroy the earth?

The biggest asteroid spotted in recent times is named Apophis. However it is not coming on an end of the world December 21 2012 doomsday and is currently on a Level 0 on the Torino Scale (this scale shows the probability of an asteroid hitting earth). It will pass close in 2029 with a probability for impact on April 13, 2036 calculated at 1 in 45,000. So it will most certainly not be here in 2012 and the chances of it hitting us are extremely unlikely.

What is Galactic Alignment and can it threaten our planet?

This is when the sun is in position between the earth and the middle of the milky way galaxy (the milky was is the galaxy we are part of). Some think that when the sun lines up in this way, it will cause major problems in our solar system.

What many people dont know is that the sun reaches this position every year around the same time, the time of the winter solstice (when winter ends and summer starts). This event creates NO changes in gravitational pull, solar radiation, planetary orbits, or anything else that would impact life on Earth. It also will NOT, as some believe, bring about a change in the so-called evolution of humanity so that we transform into a higher form of existence. The people who suggest this are lacking in intelligence because they are acting on wrong information about our galaxy.

Nor will it bring about a change in our consciousness. It will most likely bring about great relief when, finally, the 2012 storytellers wake up on the first morning of 2013 with egg on their faces and realise that is has all been a tragic mistake.

HELLO! The position of a large ball of gas 93 million miles away (the sun) is not going to affect our evolution (note: this site does not believe we evolved - evolution is a lie) or our consciousness. We are not going to become more (or less) developed, spiritually or otherwise, because a ball of gas in the sky changes position (like it does every year).

What is the Mayan Calendar 2012 prophecy?

What you need to understand about this is that...

(1) There is no prophecy. Even the Mayans dont believe there is one.

(2) Its just a calendar.

Here are some moreFACTS that may help. We have a 12 month calendar. The Mayans had a 5,125 year long count calendar. Our calendar ends on December 31. The Mayans long count calendar ends on December 21, 2012 (some think it may actually be Dec. 23).

When our calendar ends, we put up a new one. When the Mayan long count Calendar ends, they start a new one. That's what you do when your calendar comes to an end. People who say that when the Mayan calendar ends the world will end, are lying. There is nothing in the Mayan calendar to suggest that they prophesied a sudden or major change of any sort in 2012.

The idea there will be massive worldwide disasters when this long count calendar comes to an end is completely a modern invention. The fact is that in some of the Mayan writings, they spoke of how in the year 4772 AD people would be celebrating the anniversary of the coronation of their great king Pakal. 4772 is a long way after 2012.

All you need to remember is that there is no prophecy and, it's just a calendar!

If not by 2012 theories, will the world still come to an end?

Yes. The world will end because this is the final result of humanity rebelling against its creator. This is not about religion butabout a relationship it always has been. The Bible outlines things this way Humanity will continue to grow more and more rebellious against God (biting the hand that created it) and there will be increased godlessness and wickedness on the earth. You dont need a Bible to believe these things are happening. You only need to read a newspaper.

God will allow humanity to suffer the full consequences of its own rebellion. This will come in the form of self inflicted wounds (war, crime, poverty, destruction of the ecosystem, breaking down of families ) and wounds from nature including the heavens (because we messed with it and because God by his divine right and power will bring its forces against us).

People wanted freedom from being accountable to their creator so God will allow that freedom to run its full course. Some will heed the warning signs. Many will not. Tragically we read more than once in the book of Revelation in the Bible, and still they would not repent. The book of Revelation says that towards the end, that God will pour out his wrath on the earth in various ways (but not including a worldwide flood since he promised after the flood in Noahs time that he would never destroy the world with a flood again the rainbow being a sign of this promise). Before these final judgements on earth, God will remove his people from theearth (as he removed Noah and his family) through what is commonly called the rapture. After these judgements, the battle of Armageddon will take place.

All these events will usher in the final judgement beforethe great white throne of God. Up till this moment, people can still repent and believe the message of salvation through personal faith in the crucified and risen Jesus Christ (God in the flesh who paid for our sins on a cross).

The final judgement is described like this in Revelation chapter 20 and verse 12 (20 12) - And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

The result of this judgement will be that some will be welcomed into eternal life in heaven while others are cast into eternal punishment in hell. After this, there will be a new heaven and a new earth. The wicked will suffer in hell forever but for those welcomed into heaven, there will be no more tears, suffering,sin, evil or death. Victory over these things will be complete. A new eternity living in right relationship with God will have begun, and it will continue forever. Praise God!
