JTAG-GALORE wrote I have a Xenon console that has me slightly stumped (maybe prison is affecting me)

It started off as a TAGGED console that had been reported to have had an incorrect matching image flashed resulting in no power going to the console when you try to boot it up. However when i tested it it didn't power on (as expected) BUT i was still able to read and write to the nand. So i just wrote the original nand back to it as this had been supplied on a disc. And it booted up to its original 7371 dashboard.

So obviously from here on in it's easy sailing.... Wrong! I can get XeLLous on there no prob, got the CPU key. But everytime i try to flash either XBR or freeBOOT i just get a black screen. Bad blocks i hear you say? Each time i erase the nand and start from scratch by re-writing the original nand back i dump the nand after and there are no bad blocks....

So i can get XeLLous working, have the CPU key, NO bad blocks and i get black screen after writing XBR from CMD, or freeBOOT directly from JTAG Tool.

When i dumped the nand after flashing the original back, the dumps i took don't match with the original which i had supplied on disc, but they match with each other. I have also tried flashing 1 of these nand dumps and i get black screen again. The original nand when flashed works!

I have even tried flashing a clean nand with all the info plucked from the original nand and i still get black screen. Now maybe all this time in prison is affecting my thinking but i am stuck!

Interesting, I have never come across a error like this in all the time I have been jtagging, but it could be related to the wiring method, a very small amount of xenons will not respond to the BAT41 diode method and will either give you e79 or in some cases a black screen like you described. But usually you will not be able boot into xell at all if the console does not respond to the diode method.

You have probably attempted both wiring methods already have you? the 2 diode method and the 3 resistor method...

If you havn't try both of those, also you could attempt to use a donor nand, try and find a xenon nand with the same CB as the consoles original, then dump the original CPU key into the donor nand, and import the original raw keyvault, you can do this either with a program called bincrypt, or you can use the latest Flash 360 Dump Tool.

If all of this fails, and you are still determined to complete the misson, you could purchase the Team-Executer Xenon e79 fix kit.

All of the other things that I can think of, you would of probably already tried.

Good luck in getting the consoles working, make sure to let me know if you get it working and what the problem was.

This has been sat to 1 side and i thought that before work today i would have a bash at it. I erased the NAND, just like i have already tried a dozen time's before and flashed the original NAND back to it so i coudl start from scratch. Well upon bootup it was just a blank screen. But i still had the xellous imageso i flashed that and that loaded. Again thought i'd try XBR as i knew the KV was obviously good as i got xellous on there no problems and it loaded why this never loaded in the past i do not know, i have not done anything different. The E79 is no more. Then i tried my luck with FreeBOOT, and again it booted! It's a mystery!

I was getting ready with the donor nand's, was even going to give the XBRFLASH method a go!

Anyway thanks to those who offered help; Icy and PrivateLDW

maybe you have defective diodes?

Yeah I got a falcon similar to this today. I'm still working on it but not sure what else to try.

Got the CPU key, but freeBOOT wont work

you sir should try putting a resistor where the jumper wire goes i suggest 200-300 ohm. happend on a jasper i had once, it actually had 0022 but it was delayed so long i though it was black screen until i accidently left it on for around 5 minutes. try that. i bet itl work
all i have to say is i guess i misread it lol i though u said u couldnt get xell to boot.
i would just use a donor nand if i were u sounds like the problem is something very wierd. and a donor nand would more likely than not fix it right up

edit#2: i fail i didnt see u got it working

I think mine could have been a result of shoddy soldering on the flasher side of thing's as i don't know why it would work after desoldering and then putting to one side for a while and then having another attempt and doing the same step's - so i just put it down to a failed write each time, it is weird how xellous was working before though. Not had 1 since like it, and it was the only 1 like it i have come across.

I now have one where the NAND cannot be read or written too even when soldering the flasher wire's further along the traces just to compensate for bad pad's. It's one that was jtagged by somebody else,t hey had a problem and then flashed the original NAND back and now no flasher can pick up the NAND. Even tried safe mode, but the console work's normally
