I am 17 years old and a High School Drop out and its not because i am "Lazy" or because school wasn't "Fun" it's simply because High Schools expect students to act like adults and they "Prepare" you to be an Adult but you're not treated like one. Im 17 and Teachers are still holding my hand and explaining things too me like i am a 1st Grader and they even still give assigned seats in the class room. Schools focus more on acting like your Parents then they do as Teachers.. and to be Honest what most school's consider "Fun way's of Learning" High School student's just see it as a Joke.. Sure that works for kids in Middle School but we are young Adults.. Not to Mention that most schools are grading kids on Consistency of doing Homework and "Creativity" on your projects... I personally got 90's and 100's on alot of my Test's and Exams but would fail a class because i felt Homework was a waste of my time when id rather do more work in class. I cant wait till i get my GED and goto a Community college and prove i dont really "Need" any of the mandatory class's you need to be successful. Let the kids who want to focus on Math, Science, Literature or Law focus on that instead of forcing them to need mandatory English, Science or Math Credits.. This country became great because of people able to pursue there passion.. But by forcing them to need something irrelevant of there passion just drives them away from it.

Heres a Quote i liked
EcKoxSoldier wrote There's a time in everyone's life when they get to a certain age when you no longer are interested in learning. I'm 18 in college and fed up but will carry for the next 2 year, but also glad I'm in the UK where you finish school once you hit 16.

This explains sorta how i feel.. School (Atleast in the U.S) is built around a 1 size fits all situation.. When that is the completley wrong way to go about it. As Ecko said here.. Every one reaches a point in there life when they are no longer interested in learning.. Now im not too sure if this is what he ment but, School teaches you the basics.. which is great! every one needs school up to a certain point.. But there comes a time when school is no longer helping you and it is becoming a waste of time. School should stop insisting on teaching the basics and allow you to take courses to lead you in a good direction for the career you want as an adult.

Am i saying everyone should drop out? NO, All i am saying is that school is not for everyone once it reaches a certain point.. Does it help some people? Of course, and i wouldn't want intrude on ANYONE trying to get an education they feel they want But past around 10th grade School becomes just an intrusion on your life rather then helping, For grades like 11th and 12th you shouldn't have to take mandatory class's.

I read the first line and realized that the next 60 seconds of my life reading would be a waste. The point is not to reverse your maturity but to advance it and prepare you for whats next. Preparation and advancement is the reason for most everything in the states and it is a part of the American dream.Good luck in future endeavors!

Dude i agree with you 100%, homework is a load of bullshit,a persons intelligence should be measured on how good they do on test not **** homework. Homework is the only reason why i fail school.

I agree on the creativity part of your "rant". Like for a math project my grade was lowered because it was not "original". I mean, come on it's not Art.

Oh Really? Because im a Drop out that makes it a waste of time? School is not your Mom or Dad... There not God.. They should only be there to TEACH me on the SUBJECTS they are qualified for. They should not be there to try and "Mold" me into a person that they think will be fit for society. Also part of the "American Dream" is to live your life to its full potential, and when your in School and being forced to learn subjects that realistically you don't need to know or your not even interested in. Lets say that there is a kid who is VERY good with science.. Now instead of letting that child learn and exell in what he has a great amount of passion and talent for Teachers then insist on teaching him English and History because "He might not be to sure what he wants to be when he is older so we want to let him have all of his options open".

The way schools are teaching now are the same way school were being taught decades ago when its simply not a "One size fits all" situation. We are being taught basic education because thats all that was needed when there were many manufacturer jobs during the industrialization period but guess what buddy... Those jobs are GONE they are shipped over sea's where its alot cheaper.. Schools need to focus on letting kids exell in what they are good at instead of making them mediocre on every subject.

See unlike you This "Drop out" or "Waste of time" is able to explain him self in more then just your lazy four sentences... Let me guess.. Your one of the kids who is passing or passed High School because he simply slid by doing what he was told and "Being a Good kid".

I totally agree with you xell , i wish the school system changed in like if your at this particuar subject you should go to a school that bests benefits from what your good at and not educate you on stuff u dont need in life! But sometimes you do need to learn like basic skills for math and english but other than that there should be a high school for Science, Math, Gaming, English and History.
