The 12/21/2012 is more than just a regular date that people think looks cool and are just making this up. There has been many predictions on it. The Mayans who made a calendar to tell when soltices and such thousands of years ahead just ends on 12/21/2012. Nostradamus a famous prophet who predicted many many many things also said the world is going to end on 12/21/2012. Then the Hopakke Indians predicted that the world is going to end on 12/21/2012. I guess odds are against us. Also that is my b-day when I can drive. So when I can drive by my self and such the world is going to end. How convienet.

The recession didnt start until half way through 07, up until then the economy was getting better

Actually 12 21 2012 isn't a made up date it was the end of the Aztec calender or whatever and there is supposed to be a lunar eclipse or something
