I recently had Eaton level me up and unlock all my weapons, perks, achievements, etc. He can't do infections right now as we all know.
I thought that i was doing pretty decent before the level 70. I was at a level 36 and don't fine. But now that i'm a level 70, something has changed and I don't know what it is.
Can someone please explain to me how you are ranked and slotted when joining a lobby? I notice that most of the competition are lvl 70 too. Not everyone, but many. They could have gotten this way the good old fashioned way of playing, or many have probably done it like I did thru a 10th Prestige.
My point to all of this is... I went from a level 36 and "hanging in there", to a level 70 where I can barely survive. What is it about your rank that pairs you up with people of the same kind of skill level? Is it my 2156000 XP? Do you have to have that number to be a level 70? Or can that be changed to something lower and still retain your level 70?
My other stats are as follows (I have no clue what is real or fake outside of the XP):
Score: 101800
Wins: 169
Losses: 215
Ties: 0
Win Streak: 10
Kills: 1068
Headshots: 96
Assists: 372
Streak: 5
Deaths: 4317
Time Played: 1d 18h 23m
So here is the thing... to test this, I logged in under my son's gamer tage (Level 6), and played. There are several level 70 players, but a good mix. I was by far the lowest ranked player. YET... I was able to actually get kills! I actually had FUN. This is not possible under my ranking of 70.
Please... no wise cracks... but I wanted to level up to a 70 mostly because I wanted to try the other weapons and attachments, but they really haven't been a factor. I reaize now that aside from just pure skill and map memorization, many of the best weapons are the ones that are unlocked early. So what's the point of leveling up to a 70 if by doing so the hacking way only leads to being killed more, rather than doing more killing? LOL. I'm starting to regret my desicion, and can always have Eaton dial me back down.
But he's offered to tweak my settings to whatever. I just want to know if there is something I can tweak to remain a level 70, but play against guys that are equally skilled? Cuz I'm average at best. I just find it odd that once I logged in as my level 6 son, I was able to actually have fun and do ok.
Can someone please tell me without making wise cracks about "just get better noob, or It takes time, or "maybe try not to suck to bad?". HA! I get it. But there is a corellation to these numbers and how you are slotted with other players. I'm just not sure what the servers are looking at when doing so. It sure isn't my kills!

and also they match you with te closest ranks in the gamke, that is why you see much more 10th's than YOU would have usually seen!

Thank you for replying. I wish more people would. I'm a nice guy, I try to help others when I can. And in this area, if you don't know, you're an idiot. How can I get any better if no one actually tries to give you good advice? Anyway....
So, what can I do to help my situation? Perhaps I'm just a piss poor gamer and nothing will change that? I still have fun though. It would nice to get awesome kill streaks, etc. Should I have my kill count even lower and raise my death count? Or vice versa? Or are you saying that because my rank is now 70, I'm always going to be matched with those types of players. The only way around it is to have my rank LOWERED, which would then lock certain weapons and attachments, but make me more competitive.
I have much better luck playing on my son's level 6 than I do my level 70! My ratio is horrid yes, it's ok to laff. But it's because he plays under my user name a lot, and because I went for a long time using the "run and gun" method, and that doesn't work. Only recently have I tried to actually memorize the maps, spawn points, etc. But it still boils down to the same thing: I'm playing against dudes who are HARD CORE and I have NO chance.
I did play Black Op's for the first time ever last week, and didn't really care for how it felt. But I did do MUCH better in that game having never played it, than I do MW2. Plus, the coolest thing about Black Ops, is that you can go in and play Bots. If I could do that on MW2, I could get a lot better.
