Its all about timing as soon as it flashes you need to get out of the car and run toward your car and get in it. Takes a few attempts to get it to work so just keep trying.

Oh okay, I tried it yesterday and it just kicked me out of my car so I left it but I'll try it again after.

Not sure if it still works, but you need to put your phone up and go to job lists and hover over a mission and drive your car up to the garage then get out walk a few steps away from the car and close ...
