i have a philips & benq dvd drive but it has a opne tray error and when i try to fix it it gives me a play dvd error. any ideas? i was thinking that of flashing it but would it work?

So I have a falcon Xbox and when I turn it on it says it needs a harddrive to continue updating(stuck/can't update) and I don't have a Hdd for it. Is there anything I can do?
