Like I know what it means but why would a moderator retire and still be on the site?

A staff member who was once apart of the moderation team, with the "Retired moderater" badge means they were apart of the site staff in the past, no longer anymore

Pretty much describes itself. like being retired. He used to work here such as moderator but now he no longer does but still active to the site
