If you bang on it, it gradually gets worse and then it wont work at all and then you need to either open it up and replace the disk drive or get a new Xbox. 8)

theres loads of ways, i opened mine up, cleaned the lazor, cleaned the whole disc tray and then just put it back and it was fine.
what did you clean your laser with???

Open the tray and then close it, now keep on hitting on the top of your xbox (where the tray is located) Really HARD and fast.

non of these ideas are good for your xbox,
what you need to do is let a professional have a look at it,
or at least do it properly,
identify what drive you have, buy a new laser online and change the laser,
dont listen to noobish ways, believe me, im a console engineer and i do know whats best for your 360,
if you live in the uk i can give you a link of the place i work and you can see were legit and i do know what im talking about
