Wow that really sucks, I don't know if this will work or not but my last xbox fried and wouldn't even power on. I didn't have a warranty but I sent it in anyways because it didn't exactly have rrod (they couldn't tell, it got rrod and never turned back on). Since warrantys are (or use to be) for rrod you should be able to send it in like that without one, no promises though. That's just what happened to me.

I'm pretty sure there is an easy way to fix your xbox by yourself. I saw something about that on youtube. I will go try and find a video for you.
