Well, you're just plain wrong. I'm sure IW is working on a new CoD game, but it's most likely set for release in 2011.

Treyarch has been working on the game to be released this year since they released World at War. The development cycle for all of the recent CoD games is 2 years. Neither Treyarch nor Infinity Ward have ever released games 2 years in a row.

Were you wondering why, after the first Modern Warfare (CoD4) came out, the series then went back to World War 2? It's because Treyarch had already been working on World at War for a year before they even knew the direction that Infinity Ward was going with CoD4.

And yes, some people have been fired or quit work at Infinity Ward recently, but that doesn't mean that they are no longer making Call of Duty games. Your anecdotal "my friend said so" evidence is pretty weak.
