If the HTC is unlocked then you can take your iPhone 3G sim and put it in the unlocked HTC with no issues. Make sure to copy all contacts to the sim tho.
Why do you want to do this tho?
iPhone 3G has a normal sim. They dont use the micro sim. You can transfer it with no hassle. The minuets and texts and such will all still be on the sim as the sim holds the number that has the contract.

Why not sell the HTC. The iPhone is better.

Suppose, the value of the 3G will go down lots when the 5 is released, so if he wants the 5 then its best to sell now. If not, sell the HTC and keep the better phone!
