You will receive the update soon, don't worry. MS checks that any online Console is updated. In my opinion if you don't want the update, then just don't go online.

this is a nice little update since alot of people have paypal but dont have a bank/debit card i would just feel safer just going to the store if i need anything though

You can access it on Xbox.com, but you can't access it on XBL. Therefore you can't really use anything you've bought until the update.
