hey guys, I'm pretty new to this forum, but i do have some modding experience. I saw that there were no softmodding tutorials for the wii, and thought i could contribute as my first or second post.

WHAT YOU NEED:

-SD card
-A computer that can read an SD card or and SD card reader

STEP UNO (1) go to this website [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] select your wii firmware and download the appropriate ZIP folder, then go to this website [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and download "hackmii installer v0.6"
STEP DOS (2) plug your SD card in your computer
STEP TRES (3) unzip the file you just downloaded from bannerbomb and put it on the root of the SD card, also if you see a folder on the card called "private" rename it "oldprivate" so you don't lose your data. Then put installer.elf that you just downloaded onto the root of the SD card and rename it "boot.elf"
+REMOVE YOU SD CARD AND GO TO YOUR WII BUT DO NOT PUT THE CARD IN YET+
STEP QUATRO (4) now go to your wii and Press (Wii), Data Management, Channels, SD. Then insert the card. It should either pop up Load boot.dol/elf? or freeze.
If it pops up a dialog, then fill out the survey

If all went well you should see a black screen with random characters on the screen. After that go to your wii menu and you should see a newly added channel called the homebrew channel. This channel allows to run run homebrew apps! To put these on the homebrew channel download the app and on the SD card make a folder called "apps" and put the folder of the app in there.

HERE IS A VERY GOOD LIST OF APPS: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
