I was very disappointed in the movie. I was looking forward to it, but was shocked when I left the theater. I loved the first film even though they went different routes than the comic they still kept the spirit of it. The first film had lots of action and a story line that was light and kept things moving.
I think that they have completely lost their damn minds. Not to give too much away for those that have not seen it, but to even say that Ironman is the guardian of the planet and the bringer of world peace???? Come on.... I think it went downhill after that. I think the birthday party scene was worthless and that the chemistry that was apparent between Rhodes and Stark in the first film was damaged. The fact that he built a particle accelerator in his house was pretty laughable. The fact that they went backwards in reference to the Captain America shield shows a lack of planning. In the first film it can be seen as a finished product in the scene where Pepper catches Stark having his armor taken off after he returns from Ghomera, He says the line "This is not the worst thing that you have caught me doing" you can see the shield on the table. In this film, which is a sequel, the shield is seen as an unfinished product. I also think that the final fight against Whiplash was extremely anticlimactic. The way that the relationship evolved between Stark and Pepper feels really wrong. I liked the way it was presented in the first film.
The good points of the film was seeing Scarlet Johansson in her uniform beating people. I also thought that the fight scenes with the drones were really well done. Mickey Rourke played a good part, even though he only had 15 lines. He pretty much played himself; a bitter old alcoholic recluse that hates the world.
Be sure to stick around until the end of the credits to find out why the SHIELD agent went to New Mexico
In all just my opinion
