KingSOLOMAN wrote correction.. a decent i7 extreme will run you at least $500 just for the processor. a good motherboard would be $250 too. to even think about building a PC that strong you would need at least $1000 bare minimum

1) You don't need an i7 extreme to run cod4, an i5 2500k oc'd to 4.5 auto will be more than fine.

2) You don't need a 250$ mobo..maybe a nice 150$ asus.

Most games are GPU intensive rather than cpu intensive, also most games only use 2-3 cores at most, so buying a hexcore would be a waste.

I guess you didnt see that part where he is trying to run it at 250 fps steady?. I think i know what im talking about.

I don't think you saw the part where i listed a i5 2500k and a 6950.

derp.

You can even flash the 6950 to a 6970.

A 6970 will destroy cod4.

My i7 won't do that. I also have a 1.5gb video card.

Do you even know anything that you're talking about? I'm going to take that as a hard NO.

The i5 2500k and the i7 2600k are basically the same thing.

The only advantage that the i7 2600k has is that it's better in hyperthreading APPS, NOT GAMMING YOU IDIOT.

Here's proof for your ignorant a$$.

There really isn't a reason to go 250FPS when the human eye can only see 60FPS. But if you want 250FPS you're paying way to much, No reason to buy a i7 when you can buy the same exact thing(i5-2500k overclocked at 4.7 GHz) and a ATI 6870-6950 cards (ranging for $189.99 to $244.96 on [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
and Kingston HyperX 8GB ram stick are $85. You don't even need a 700w power supply. Get a hex-X 650 watt PSU, a decent motherboard, and a good HDD. also, a ROOMY casethe 6870 and 6950 are monster cards. I suggest you get a Cooler Master HAF 912 mid tower case. and whatever CPU cooler you want. My Rig costed me about $760 and plays all games I throw at it maxed with 30+FPS (Crysis 45 FPS, Medal of Honor 88 FPS, Battlefield Bad Company 2 91 FPS, Crysis 2 50 FPS, Call of Duty 4 170+FPS, Black ops 120+FPS, Modern warfare 2 145+FPS)

My specs:
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912
MO.BO: ECS P67H2-A3
GPU: ATI PowerColor 6950 1GB(Stock)
CPU: Intel i5-2500k Clocked @ 4.6 GHz
PSU: hec-X 650 watt
Ram: Kingston 8GB HyperX DDR3 1600 ram
