Get a low end asus laptop.
They are great quality and 2 - 5 year warranties.

ZoopaZexyZwoosh wrote MacBook Pro if you want gaming and web mostly.
But for other stuff, Just get a Dell.
Ur kinda wrong.. I mean if you are big into hacking and stuff get a Dell, etc. but do NOT get a MacBook if you are planning on downloading certain softwares like Cane and Abel or any host booters. Not that you are.
But for school and regular use.. definitely MacBook.

Depends on your price range, so I came up with a few:
Desktop PCs ------
Budget: Asus Eee Box
Moderate: Dell Inspiron 570MT
Price Doesn't Matter: Alienware Aurora
Laptop/Netbooks ------
Buget: eMachines EM350 Netbook
Moderate: Inspiron Mini 1018
Price Doesn't Matter: Alienware M18x
