Game Information
Release Date: November 9th, 2010 (N.America)
Developers: Activision / Treyarch
Genre: First Person Shooter
Platform: Cross Platform
Age Restrictions: 18+ (Mature)
Synopsis(Wikipedia)
Call of Duty: Black Ops takes place during the Cold War, in the 1960s. The story focuses on the CIA-backed clandestine black operations carried out behind enemy lines. These missions take place in various locations around the globe such as the Ural Mountains in central Russia, Cuba, Laos, and Vietnam. The single-player campaign revolves around an experimental chemical weapon codenamed "Nova-6".
The player mainly controls SAD/SOG special forces operative Alex Mason and occasionally CIA agent Jason Hudson, as well as other characters. Mason often works with Frank Woods and Joseph Bowman, while Hudson teams up with Grigori Weaver, a Russian-born field operative. Viktor Reznov, a key character from the Soviet campaign in World at War returns. Its Russian protagonist Dimitri Petrenko also makes an appearance. Black Ops features several historical figures: Mason meets John F. Kennedy, Robert McNamara, and Fidel Castro.
Plot (Campaign)
Well once again Treyarch strikes with an amazing campaign mode in Black Ops. It is very weird in some aspects especially in the end very bizzare in some ways. But it is very cool because they make it very customized to the time period in the 1960's in the way that they make it so the government makes it like it never happened. The campaign can take a good amount of time to play and there are some very good missions in this one i personally like one of the earlier ones where your character basically gives himself up and jumps off the plane leaving to safe them and thats when it all starts you go into the hit. It's very cool how its started with you in the chair strapped down asked questions and you get shocked which is when you have to play and recall the experiences. Then eventually at a certain point towards the end the campaign gets picked up to the point your in the chair answering questions which is really awesome. One other mission that is awesome in this campaign is one that almost is relevant to the Russian Roulette scene in the movie "Deer Hunter" which is a great movie and that scene/mission is awesome. As usual Treyarch uses there campaign to give you a taste of what these wars were like even though there is no true experienced till you are in it. That's basically the campaign very exciting up to the end and one hint ill give you: a quote from the reveal trailer sums it up
"A lie is a lie. Just because they write it down and call it history doesn't make it the truth. We live in a world where seeing is not believing, where only a few know what really happened. We live in a world where everything you know is wrong."
Campaign Gameplay
In this campaign you use essentially every weapon for that time period some more powerful then others also in one mission you are able to pick up the PPSH-41 from World At War (my favorite cod weapon <3) which is awesome. Another plus to this gameplay is the ability to drive a helicopter in one mission and also fire missiles and bullets so its challenging but it is extremely fun.
Muiltiplayer
Black Ops has a campaign consisting of a new 15 prestiges but did not go overboard and the highest level is 50. Most weapons from the campaign are playable in multiplayer. A whole new system has been added in Black Ops that is COD Points to purchase weapons and perks. This is pretty effective and a nice add-on. Also points can be obtainable from certain gun achievements and playing games and also from completing contracts.Muiltiplayer is overally pretty good lots of maps to play on.
Nazi Zombies
Once again Black Ops returns with what i believe is the greatest add-on in video game history Nazi Zombies. In the "Hardened" edition on the game you can receive the original 4 maps from World At War except with weapons from Black Ops along with as of now (June 11 2011) 4 other maps open to anybody. Kino Der Toten / Five / Ascension / Call of the Dead. In this game Zombies has been stepped up so many levels the maps are a lot bigger resulting in new strategies to be used and also new glitches. The story from World At War for Nazi Zombies is continued in Black Ops and is even more in depth. Also the most interesting thing in Black Ops zombies is Easter Egg's the two biggest ones are in Ascension and Call of the Dead. In ascension once its completed by a series of steps and each player receives a death machine for 90 seconds. That was good but Call of the Dead completely 1-upped that with way more interesting/interactive steps to complete it and you have to release the original four characters form a room and once comleted a death machine power up will appear and the player to get it will recive not a death machine but a WUNDERWAFFE DG-2 for as long as you have ammo (can't PaP but can refill ammo w/ a Max Ammo) Also Call of the Dead includes the first Boss, not the anitcipated silver back monkey but George A Romero a Zombie movie producer (irony). In summary Black Ops zombies has really been great so far through 2 Map Packs and it looks like one more to go but everything looks great going into it.
Graphics
Graphics for this game have stepped a lot from World At War but still not as good as Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2. Very clear and very little discrepancies in this one for graphics. So moving on i think graphics will only increase in quality.
Rating: 8
Personally i think World At War was better then this game only because of wepaons and campaign it was just way to hard to beat but every other aspect i give to Black Ops so ill give it a 8/10.

Campaign was average at best. Multiplayer is the worst of any shooter. Zombies is great but they are adding to much like george, that was a big mistake. keep it simple.
