Before you post anything on the tech game, it is highly recommended to read the rules over so you understand everything.. This will make sure you receive next to no warnings.Of course we all get warnings though.
Link to the rules:
thetechgame.com/Forums/rules.html
Never freak out if you receive a warning, it just means you violated a rule. People do 1000s of times a day. You get a warning, and learn from you're mistakes. After a few warnings, you need to read the rules again. Always make sure that you are going to be reading the rules. If you know how to post well then you will have much more respect.
How do I make a useful post?
A good post is made up of a few things. First, make sure you know what you are talking about. You don't want to be rambling out random things to people that are looking for advice or an opinion on something. Second, you should have you're posts very organized, not all over the place. Third, is to make sure that you spend time on the post, if it doesn't look good to you, make it better. It has to look great to the poster, to look good to the people reading it. I personally hope that this post takes me at least 45 minutes. I am hoping to get known on TTG by doing posts such as this one.
How to get known on TTG
There are mainly two ways to get known in a good way on TTG. Of course there are more, but these are the ones you should try for yourself. First, go to the shout box. Here is a link to it thetechgame.com/Members_Shout.html . The shout box is a chat room for TTG members to communicate. It is a instant messaging service provided by TTG staff. The second way to get known, is to post useful topics, and host lobby's. When I say lobby's, I don't mean hosting fake ones, I mean host real ones. It truly helps when you get seniors, masters, etc in you're lobby's. You will get mainly leeches and resident elites in you're lobby's, so don't be discouraged by this. Eventually you're lobby's will get noticed, and you're effort will be noticed too.
What is the best game to host lobby's on?
It all depends on you're preference. If you like to host modded zombie lobbies, then World at war would be. If you want to host experience lobby's then cod 4 is you're good pick. Since Mw2 lobby's are down, those are the two main options. Black ops lobby's will just get you banned instantly sadly.
What are those flags for?
At the bottom of someone's post, there are two flags. A red one [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] , and a green one [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . The red one is used for reporting a post or reply, if it is against the rules. Make sure it is, because if it is not, then you are misusing the report system, and action against you're account can be taken, and you could be banned. The green flag is for adding, or taking reputation away from a user. If you are misusing this system, you can be punished as well. This means, no rep boosting, or negative reping someone for nothing.
What is rep boosting?
Rep boosting, is when you offer someone reputation points, if you receive reputation points from them. This is against the rules, and you will hear about it from all the users on TTG if you make a "rep boosting" post. Hopefully the admins/mods will send you a warning message if you are doing this too. I repeat, it is against the rules. Earn you're rep fairly, because you wan't to be known for positive things.
What are good ways to receive rep?
A few good ways to receive reputation points, are to host lobby's. If you are getting people into you're lobby's you will receive rep. Another way, is to behave friendly in the forums, and you're personal messages. No one likes a grumpy gus.
Ok cool, but how do I not receive -rep
Never ask for rep, I think that most of the TTG users agree with me, and we will not hesitate to give you -rep for asking for rep. Another way, is to not act rude to other members. Joking around, or "trolling" is alright, but don't take it too far. Some people will be a little less joking then others, so don't always expect to not receive -rep, because you will.
Have you received -rep before?
Yes, I do daily. But reputation is just a number, and does not harm me, or my profile in any way. Of course, +rep is very nice, -rep is not the end of the world. But according to the leeches, may 21s was suppose to be .
What is a leech or leecher?
A leech or leecher is someone who doesn't contribute to the community, and "leeches" for lobbies, and giveaways. They don't give anything in return, and normally don't have above 200 posts.
What is the thanks button for?
The "Thanks" Button is for a useful, or helpful post. You click it, and it helps the person with their efforts. For a lobby, it makes them look legit. Of course, only thank the topics that have helped you.
What does the Thanks button look like?
Well, this is simple,
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
TTG ranking system:
thetechgame.com/Forums/ranks.html
How to make you're message hidden:
Hidden:
Hit this button while posting; [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
How to add color, font size, and font type to you're posts:
Ok, these should be easy to find, but where it says "Font type" "Font size" and "font color", just highlight you're text you desire to be modified, and then hit the button!
How can I get gifted gold?
First off, be friendly to people. No one is going to gift you gold if you have treated them unfairly, or treated them rudely. Second, try not to flame topics, even more if it is someone with gold, or another high post count person. Most people with lots of posts have lots of friends, so they can get their friends to -rep you as well. Make friends. PM people, or make jokes in forums to try to get people laughing at you're jokes. If there is a gold giveaway, don't hesitate to enter. Just make sure that you're reply is intelligent, and you are saying what you can give to the person. Don't offer a GFX if you can't make one. Even though gold giveaways are against the rules, lots of people still do them, and it is not against the rules to join in on one.
Whats a good reply for a gold giveaway?
Well, if the forum is like this:
Why do you wan't gold?
What will you do with gold?
Have you had gold before?
Are you active?
Will you +rep/thank?
What will I get from you?
Then you are going to want to answer everything truthfully.
Here is what mine would be like :
Why do you wan't gold?I wan't gold because I am a very active member on TTG. I host lobby's daily, and I feel that no one takes them seriously because I don't look as legit as the other gold hosters.
What will you do with gold? make my lobby's look legit, and eventually gift someone else.
Have you had gold before? Yes (or no if you haven't)
Are you active? yes, i am on ttg 5+ hours a day.
Will you +rep/thank? Yes, already have.
What will I get from you? I make sigs, avatars, backgrounds, banners, and I host tonnes of lobby's on cod 4/W@W. I will +rep you everyday three times for awhile.
make sure you always answer with what you have to give, and actually give it to the person.
Benefits of gold?
Well, I can't give too much away, it is against the site rules. But there are a few things I can tell you. First off, you get to change the color of your username at any time you feel like it! Second, whenever you post or reply to a topic, you get a badge under your name that shows you are a gold member. Third, you get to change your name ONCE. So make it a good one.
