Assuming the xbox is jtaggable, (7371 dash or below) you will still need the dvd key of the console but once you have it just patch your KV with the new key

Would I be able to generate a new key and put it on the board, and dvd drive, or get the new drives key, and patch it to the motherboard?

not sure if that's entirely possible, but if you were to jtag your console you can retrieve the key from xellous and then flash it to a drive of your choice BUT you also need your cpu key and flash 360 tool to also obtain the drive model as you will need to spoof the correct drive model because even if you have the correct DVD key on the drive, if it is not spoofed to match the actual model it still won't work
Also if you are able to jtag the console there isn't a huge need for the dvd drive, the use of usb flash drive/ external, ftp, and hard drive transfer kits eliminate the need for a dvd drive......
