I believe that they just did not want to release the name of the new wonder weapon, and instead wanted people to find out when they play the map, so 31-79 JGb215 is just the code name for it. 31-79 JGb215 is not a memorable name and doesn't have any value to it like the ray gun, wunderwaffe, thundergun, or winter's howl. Yes the VR-11 had letters and numbers only, but it at least was short and rolled off the tongue to some extent. And if i'm wrong, that is a totally stupid name and i'm just gonna call it by what it does. Comment what you think the true name is.
