in minecraft when im holding a block in my hand or a block is in my inventory its just a black block

but when i place it, it becomes one it is

for example:if i pick up grass it will just be a black block but if i place it, it becomes grass.it has happened in the past but went away.

what should i do?

take out your map saves
and then delete .minecraft folder and redo your update

what texture pack are you using? if it's default just force update your game.

yeah if you play them if not trash the whole folder and just relaunch the game

Could be the texture pack bro. Happened to me and I deleted the whole game and re-downloaded it. Works fine now!

Backup your maps. Then delete .minecraft from %appdata% -> Roaming.

just save your Maps in your .minecraft folder and delete the .minecraft folder and relaunch the game you should be fine
