My xbox 360 mic broke recently and i can hear everything but i cant talk... i got my friends mic too that works perfectly fine and i couldnt talk through that either but i could hear. I have tried this on both of my xbox controllers and have changed all my settings on my account to see if that was making it so that i couldnt talk to people. but none of that effected if i could talk or not.

Turn on your xbox and plug in the mic to the controller while the controller is on.
Then take out your mic and turn off the xbox by the button on the xbox.
Turn on the xbox with the controller but the mic stays unplugged.
They shut the off the xbox with the controller.
Then turn on the xbox with the controller and the mic plugged in.
What this does is reset the controller and mic.

Be grateful you can hear. The mic just might be broke. It's broken, changing controllers and settings won't help

If it's not default you might have a warranty on it
