One hit wonder - This is what rank you have when you have 1 post , if you make a topic which needs trust then you will be refered as a One Hit wonder ( that is if its your 1st ever post )


Reputation

Reputation shortened as rep is a system which shows members that are respected amongst the community.

You earn reputation powers by recieving 100 rep points . Points make up a power. 100 rep points = 1 rep power.

Other members can also give you reputation points. The amount of rep points given is the maximum of 25 for regular members. 50 for gold members and 100 for mods and staff

However you need the amount of rep power to give as points.
A regular member with 8 rep power can only give a maximum of 8 rep points to other members.
A regular member with 500 rep power can only give 25 rep points as that is the maximum for regular members.

To give reputation points. - Test this on me for convience :L

Find a post that you want to give the poster rep . Then in the bottom corner click the green flag and choose how many points you are going to give.

Rep can be given in positive or negative.


To see your rep go to your profile , by clicking your name the scroll to the bottom and click reputation



Reporting A Post
The use of the report post feature is for reporting posts/topics that are against the rules.Abuse the tool and you can recieve punishment for reporting a good post that doesnt break rules

Then when you finish you will recieve this message for 2-3 seconds then it will go back to normal

Useful and Unuseful posts

A useful post is a post that is not spam , follows the rules and helps other members.

Example : if a member made a release of something like a modding programme . This would be useful as it helps members and follows the rules

Unuseful poat . A post that is not needed causes spam and doesnt follow the rules

Thank System and Thumbs Up/Down
If you like a post why not thank it. In the bottom right of the screen on the 1st post of a topic there will be a button that says thanks.

By clicking it your name will be added under the post and in the thanked users .

When you like or dislike a post you can use the thumbs up/down buttons

By using the buttons it causes un needed spam from people saying " nice " " good " when they could click the thumbs up.



How To Use A Poll
When you make a topic you have the option to add a poll. Look at the pictures below to help

Gold Membership

Gold membership is a premium membership for thetechgame

This great feature allows you to change your user and change the colour of your name. You also have access to a new gold member forum where you get releases of great programmes and new moding files before regular members.

You also get this great badge next to your name when you make a post or a topic

You can change your username each subscription guides on how in the gold section ( I would add but it gives you more to see in the old section)

Editing Profile

Editing your profile avatar and signature.
To get to your profile click your name.

Now click edit profile , the green circle shows were it is


Now you can change the fields here , scroll to the bottom of the page to find avatar



Click save changes then your done with your avatar

The Forum
TTG forum has many boards ( a board is a group of topics like the general discussion or pc support )
Each board has its own rules , you can see the rules either in the official rules RULES
or in an announcement in the board.

Announcements are shown as blue speakers .

The different post icons
There are several post icons that are for different things

A normal topic will have this because it has only a few replies and views
When a normal topic has a post that you havnt read it will change the icon to this when you have seen
it , the icon will revert back to

When your post gets a flame it is because it has had many views and replies , 50 replies .
If there is an unread post it turns to this when see goes back to that.

A sticky is given to a post that is helpful or the user is legit at the service they provide example a shop or cod lobby.
A sticky looks like this this stays the same with a unseen post or with all all post seen.

An announcement is a post that is meant to be seen by members who go to the board an announcemnt looks like

A global annoucement is shown on every board and looks like this

How To Earn Badges

The maximum amount of badges you can have is 2
The gold member badge is always a badge , if you are a gold member

The level of the badge overlaps the other badge you may have.

If you have the awesome badge but are staff then you will have the
staff badge.


How to get them :

Gold member

Buy gold membership

Trusted seller

Be a legit seller in the marketplace for selling
items such as jtags or cod lobbies , if you are very legit and have
lots of positive feedback you will get this badge

Rated Awesome

Be awesome and talk to TTG Sean as he gives out badges.

Veteran User

This is like been rated awesome but you have to contribute
a lot to the site and help others.

M.V.C

The hardest badge to obtain , you need to contribute very much
to the site such as amazing releases regually.

Sectional Moderator

This allows you to moderate a section , you need
to be active in a certain section and it helps to have stickies in that
section.

Global Moderator

Usualy given when you have been a sectional moderator
for some time and have shown you are very good at it but you can be
made a global from a normal user if you are very lucky and do lots
for the site.

Administrator

Be a very good global moderator and get along very well
with sean.

Retired Mod

Be a moderator and retire

You get this for been a site developer or a program that is

How to be a good member.Made by Addict


1 : Always be a welcoming member. When someone joins the forum, and ask for something don't flame them. Welcome them, and tell them that asking for that product / service may get them flamed. The welcoming rule applies to anyone introducing themselves. Just be friendly, and in return. Members will respect you. Flaming members, or being unwelcoming can result in them never using the forum again.




2 : Read the rules. Now, from previous experience, if you don't know the rules, bad things can happen. The forum rules are located here, and it's always best to revise them every couple of days. It won't harm you to know your do's, and don'ts. Why risk something when you can avoid it completely ? Exactly, don't !



3 : Socialize, don't be a loner. There are many ways of socializing. Some of them are, talking in the shoutbox, located here. That's the main, and most effective way of getting to know member's. Others are, setting up an aim - Aol Instant Messaging, many members use this as a way of communicating when not on the forum, or otherwise. There has recently been a sub board added called - "come game with me". This is a board where user's post their XBL, and PSN id's go there, and add them. The only other things you can do is post, doing this will result in member's noticing you more.



4 : Try and offer a service which member's need. Examples of some are -

Creating graphics.
Hosting XP lobbies, and such.
Creating detailed tutorials.
Offering GOD's, and other free merchandise.
There are many more things which can be done to increase your respect, and popularity. These are just some examples.



5 : Don't annoy the staff ! This may be obvious, but flaming / harassing the staff, or for that point any member will probably result in a suspension / ban. The staff can be located here.



6 : Don't spam ! Spamming is a terrible way to start a long journey on a site, that is providing you stay. No one likes a spammer, increasing post count rapidly while posting detailed responses is ok, but if someone say's something like "1 year member, and 6K post's" Don't just post congratulations, this is classed as spamming. Post something like, "Congratulations, your topics never seem to disappoint, keep up the good work." This isn't spam, and is just as effective.



7 : Don't ask for reputation, or thanks. Asking for reputation is seen as bad, which it is. Asking for reputation will most likely result in you receiving minus reputation. Also, it's against the rules, it's the same as asking for a thanks. And considering i'm covering this, don't ask for gold. Asking for gold is the exact same as begging for money, if you want gold, purchase it, or offer someone a service / item in return for it.



8 : I believe this is in the rules, but always use the search feature. If there's something you wan't to know. Chances are someone has already asked the same question, and recieved an answer. The search bar can be located above topics. Or, for all the lazy people , here.

9 : Promote TTG, there are many ways to do so. Here are some examples.

Creating a youtube video.
Advertising on other forums which condone it. Don't advertise on a forum which doesn't allow it, that spreads a negative image about TTG.
Take it to the real world, tell your friends, family, bosses. Anyone.Once again, these are just some of the ways which can be used.
