The 5850 still holds it's own as a gaming card, but for the price you are paying, you should definitely get much better specs. Build your own and you will get WAY better specs while paying less or the same.
I can get a system with a 2500K, 2 6950s, 8 GB RAM, and everything else for around that price. That system would destroy the one you posted. You would also get higher-quality parts and better warranties.

For a balanced rig at this budget, the 2500K is supreme. The highest-end AMD CPU that people should buy is the Phenom II 955 X4, which is only 100 bucks. The AMD hexacores are only beneficial to those who use heavily threaded applications like encoders, transcoders, heavy editors, compilers, etc. regularly.

You could of got a better rig if you built your own. I mean way better..like with an SSD, 6970/ GTX 570..i5-2500k..etc.

Is that why the intel core i5-2500k out performs every single AMD cpu on the market today? And to top that, it's only 30$ more than AMD's most expensive one. Hmm.
