Youtube has a new design coming to it called "Cosmic Panda". The new design is very modern looking and very easy to use.
Really the only downside of the new design is you will have to to find a new way to get your channel's background to fit.
Lets get down to the new features of the newer youtube,
New search bar,darker logo,and bigger account button w/profile picture.

Old Search Bar: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

New music feature
If you didn't see the feature up by the new search bar that says "Music" go check it out. This feature is used to listen to any song you want on youtube. It tells you the top songs of the week and gives you many different mainstream artists to listen to. It also shows you what artists are playing near you.
New Channel Design
This is probably what people will dislike the most about the new youtube. It will make all old backgrounds look bad and call for a re-design.

You can now search anything you want on anyone's channel.
How can this become useful?
This can become useful in many ways,one example is if you are trying to find an old video on Machinimas channel,you don't have to spend hours looking for it.

Easy just go to the bottom of youtube.com and click "Try something new"

Then find Cosmic Panda and click "Try it out".

Yeah but IMO,it has updated in a bad way.
All the people that took time and put effort into making youtube backgrounds,they did it for nothing. :
