So, my JTAG was working great, then for a couple of days, it would keep trying to have me go through the initial setup every startup. Then, the leds on the console would stay on after power off, sometimes, or not come on at all. Now, the console E79's and won't boot Xell, (E79 also)

E79 is a nand issue right?

It was out of the blue really. I had used the xell loader (Or something) .xex to boot up xell with full processor speed and use Gentoo on the console, but that was the only remotely "sketchy" thing I've done with the console. I play to send it off to get it repaired, but I was wondering if there's a trick to maybe save me the 50 bucks.

Well, I just turned it on, and it decided to boot. It asked for initial setup again and still don't have working leds.

Someone please help me with this mental JTAG

Edit:
And I tried turning it off....and E79 all the time now.

Anyone have any idea?

It must be your wiring. Do you have a Falcon jtag? It seems to me like you are using the standard wiring procedures instead of the aud_clamp dvd_tray fix.

Didn't do the wiring myself. ShyGuy did.

I can't reflash myself, that's why I would have to send it off.

Start with checking what wiring method was used. If it was an HDMI unit, you are going to want Boxxdr or aud_clamp dvd wiring.

If you do have a stable wiring in your HDMI unit, or you do not have an HDMI unit, then your diodes may have failed, which I have seen happen before. This will give an e79 err.

You also may want to check to see if any wiring came loose, or if wires are crossing.

It may also be a rare HDD err; boot console with HDD or any USB device unplugged.

If nothing was flashed to NAND, then it will be one of the four above issues.

Nothing was flashed to nand, and its not a storage unit problem. (tested)

I'll have IcyTank fix it. I hear he's awesome.

Its most likely a soldering issue and you should be using a more stable wiring setup and alternate smc. Send it for repairs if your not able to do so yourself...

I don't think it's really in the wiring.

It just sounds like you have an HDMI unit which do randomly get E79 errors, especially Zephyrs using Regular wiring method...

If it booted again and you got the initial fill in the info screen, it's going to need a manual reflash(usb or lpt)..

I would just get both taken care of and it'll be good to go until it Red Rings..

-Reflash
-Change Wiring to Aud_Clamp
