Elusive wrote I also wanted to know what you thought of my set-up i'm going to buy shortly. I also wanted to know 2 other things. If it can run 1080p HD perfect on the 550 Ti and if I needed to add anything else to the list to complete my computer. Also, if that sound-card is even needed or if that barebones kit comes with one installed. I'm trying to keep my budget under $1,000. Also, I was wondering if I need 2GB on a video card; would 1GB do the job just fine on 1080p?

GeForce GTX 550 Ti (1 or 2GB)

SoundBlaster X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty

HDMI to Mini-HDMI Cable

24x DVD Burner

750-Watt Power Supply

Barebones Kit (Link: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] )

Windows 7 Professional (64 Bit)
The sound card is not needed unless you need an optical port or something like that. A 1GB will do fine with 1080p and is not really necessary unless you plan on using dual screens but you can still get the 2GB to be rest assured it will run great.. You can get free Windows 7 on a torrent website. That will save you a good $250. Show me a link to the graphics card you are talking about.

If I change the HDMI to Mini-HDMI cable just an HDMI - HDMI cable, I'll save $20 which will put me right under my $1000 price mark. (Forgot the Graphics Card comes with an Mini-HDMI to a regular HDMI adapter). Also you said the sound card wasn't needed. Did it say anywhere on that barebones kit that it comes with an already installed sound card or audio?

It has a Realtek ALC888B embedded into the motherboard. The only need for you getting the sound card is if you need optical like I said. For the small price difference between the 2GB and the 1GB go with the 2GB. If you REALLY think the X-Fi is necessary buy it because overall it gives you better sound quality. X-Fi is very good.

Sorry to re-update the topic but I thought i'd give my last bit if info.

After looking at the video card to selected the minimum power watt supply is 400.

In other words, you'll be fine with the barebone kit.

Also, the kit you selected in very good for the price! I may actually purchase it myself (when i get the money )

thanks lol!

Alright, this is my final kit. I've cut some things so I could fit a monitor in my project. (So I can watch TV and play video games both @ 1080p; 720p is fine too if the graphics card has problems @ 1080p). So here's what I came up with.

Samsung 21.5" HDTV (1080p; HDMI Port)

Barebones Kit

650-Watt Power Supply (Check this please to see if it's compatible with the kit: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] )

GeForce GTX 550 Ti (1GB; Awesome thing is it comes with 2 games; Mafia II and Just Cause II.)

HDMI to HDMI Cable

24x DVD Drive

1x Extra 4GB Memory Stick

Windows 7 Professional (64 Bit).

Now, that game should run all recent games & BF3 on the highest settings (720p is fine, too) right?

Yup it will run great. But why that PSU? It's a brand unknown and will probably fail on you. Go with a Corsair PSU for higher quality. Most games still run on 720p so it will be fine. Besides that it's great.
