I am looking to build a computer but i have no idea where to get started with parts. I need it to be able to run most recent games at reasonable quality and be able to do some basic editing. My budget is around 500GBP (500GBP = 820.54USD). Does anyone have any suggestions?

The amount you spend depends on the hardware you want. Think of the game you believe would be using the most power and then find out what graphics card was used when testing it / what one is recommended. as for the other parts it all depends on your personal preferences.
Another thing is that Monitors and OS put the price up considerably, if you already have these then the price comes down and you have much more to spend on your system hardware.
When you say editing, what sort of editing are you referring too?
PS. were do you plan on getting your parts from?
