Today IEEE, the company that supervises WiFi technology development, announced the next generation WiFi: 802.22. This new technology is designed to transfer wireless data (up to 22Mbps) over distances up to 60 miles! The technology takes advantage of television bands without compromising the reception of existing TV stations:
wrote This new standard for Wireless Regional Area Networks (WRANs) takes advantage of the favorable transmission characteristics of the VHF and UHF TV bands to provide broadband wireless access over a large area up to 100 km from the transmitter. Each WRAN will deliver up to 22 Mbps per channel without interfering with reception of existing TV broadcast stations, using the so-called white spaces between the occupied TV channels.
This type of technology has the capability to severely hurt cellular carriers and their outrageously high data rates. Post on your thoughts about the new WiFi

Yeah some people will just not buy their internet anymore, There would be so many people without a wifi password that you could leech off too.

This opens up so many opportunities. You could easily charge people $10/month to use your internet and use tier-1 hosting. You could actually make money by paying for your internet.
