I have had this for about a year and a half now, with absolutely no problems and works and looks great!

its a nice computer, but i dont know why you would ever get 8 cores for a laptop. my laptop is an asus k52dr and i love it, but i use my desktop more, i only use my laptop for school now.

It does not double the speed. It creates another virtual core on each core when necessary. The extra threads only help when using well threaded applications like encoders, transcoders, heavy editors, servers, compilers, etc. Games are not well threaded, either so many cores are useless in games.
