Ubuntu
Just some of the Advantages!
* Fully Customizable
* Less Boundaries and Restrictions
* Uses less CPU
* Uses less RAM
* Described as a Massive Firefox OS... Plug-into your Future (Nice Motto Heh)
* Much harder and more complex system for viruses to infect you...
* and... Best of all? 100% Free Open Source!
Otherwise known as... Linux
* Yes, Ubuntu is very hard to get used to, but 6 hours on your computer with Google and Youtube on your
side as your own disposal... Your good to go.

I would advise anyone that has a Computer that will not boot or anything of that nature, that cannot be fixed without expense. I would advise you to burn a CD From the links Above and replace windows with this Brilliant Open Source OS!
How Ubuntu helped me...
I simply could not boot my computer... at all. It would not boot, I couldnt go into anything. I couldnt even access system restore nor even Safe mode! it was Crazy...
Someone in this Community suggested Ubuntu to me.. So I burnt myself a disc, Replaced windows as it was :idea: And once it installed it worked Perfectly.
* Its Faster and it makes me Feel like im on a Quad Core...
If this helped you!

I am a huge supporter of Linux and open-source software. Great post. We just need to get the education system to realize that Linux (Suse in particular) with Open Office is better than Windows with MS Office. It could save billions by eliminating the need to upgrade hardware (to an extent) or purchase software.

May I ask how the drivers and whatnot are available? Whenever I reinstall Windows or upgrade I always have to go to various websites to download and install the correct drivers.

Basically, in a very small Nut-shell...
Just like windows, you open up the 'Start menu' which by default in Ubuntu is a Search engine.
You simply type in 'Software'
This will then open up some various Applications, which you would have by default.
You would open up 'Ubuntu Software Center'
This will then give you access to anything from 'Java' and much much futher in advance.
'Ubuntu Software Center'
is basically like a windows update serach engine
Just plugins instead!

I love linux. I used 11.04 on my computer for a bit, and it's better than windows imo. But i've used windows 7 for a couple of years, and it doesn't feel natural. It's better though, i like the feel on windows 7 more.

Yes. Linux is known to run on almost anything. You can also find PowerPC builds fairly easily, I run Gentoo on a G4 laptop with a 7400 CPU.
