it depends, if there is an update u will not be able to
coz if u update ur wii it will just freeze

The wii won't freeze on all games when you try to update.
The only games I am aware of freezing are:
Black ops
Monster hunters prime


Also I don't think many older games freeze I think it is newer ones as they are trying to stop piracy.
