plz help with jtag DVD Drive

My dvd drive on my jtag is broke and i was going to get a new one and change it but do i need to reflash the new DVD KEY with the jtag or do i just replace it i have asked a few people and have got mixed replys half say i just replace it and the other half say i have to reflash it plz help
