This tutorial is for the MAC!

Hey guys!

Today I'm going to show you how to install HD textures or regular textures to minecraft on mac.

Step 1:

Start out with a fresh minecraft folder. Go to your: Ex:Josh-library-application support-minecraft. Delete this and start minecraft to create a fresh minecraft folder. If you want your saves you dont have to delete it just drag it to the desktop.

Step 2:

Now you need to either install Optifine or MCpatcher. (Optifine is a program that increases your performance of your minecraft application and MCpatcher just lets you install HD textures.
[align=center]DO NOT INSTLALL MCPATCHER AND OPTIFINE TOGETHER!

Step 3:

Alright once you have downloaded only one of them. I would prefer you download Optifine if you want to have HD textures with very good fps stabilization.

Optifine Installment

Only do Step 4 - Step 9 if you have downloaded Optifine!

Step 4:

If you downloaded Optifine just go back to the minecraft folder in application support. Once you have opened the minecraft folder go to bin. Once you are in the bin folder right click on minecraft.jar then open with Archive Utility.

Step 5:

Once you opened minecraft.jar with the application named archive utility you should get a folder named minecraft. Once you have done that just delete minecraft.jar and name the folder that was extracted minecraft.jar

Step 6:

Once you have done step 5 just open the folder that was extracted and put the files from the folder Optfine_1 into the extracted folder.

Step 7:

Once you have done step 4 - 6 you should have it installed so just open minecraft and you will see in options that your video settings have more buttons that you can change.

Step 8:

Now if you did everything right you just have to go back to the minecraft folder in application support and find texture packs. Once you have done that just drag the textures into the texture packs folder.

Remember that the texture pack has to be in a zip format to work!!!

Step 9:

Now just open minecraft and go to the tab called textures and mods or something like that. Enjoy!

MCpatcher Installment

Only do Step 10 - Step 11 if you downloaded MCpatcher!

Step 10:

You should have not messed with your minecraft folder in application support so this will work if you didn't. .Now for the installment of MCpatcher. You should have downloaded a program called mcpatcher-2.1.0_02.jar. Open this program then.....

Step 11:

Once you have opened the program just select HD textures and better grass (not required and will make minecraft run slower). Then just hit the patch button and you are done. All you need to do from there is place your texture packs into the texture packs folder in the minecraft located in application support.

Extra Information:

Now you have successfully installed either Optifine or MCpatcher and can install HD textures.

If you need to install other mods that need modloader install that BEFORE you install Optifine.

With MCpatcher you can just go ahead and install any other mods after you install it.

Make sure you compare the contents of Optifine to any other mods that you will install to make sure you are not replacing any contents from Optifine. If this happens you will just have to deal with it and not install the other mod you want to.

Once again I will tell you that all texture packs that are put into the texture packs folder located in the minecraft folder will HAVE TO BE IN THE FORMAT THE FILE WAS DOWNLOADED IN! If you download it and it is just a folder you will have to go to trash and just drag it to the desktop. Then delete the folder that was on your desktop.

Remember that MCpatcher will downgrade the performance of your minecraft application so it might just be your personal preference.
