These will make you rethink your stance on Beats. Thanks for being open to other suggestions!

Ultrasones are made for you. They're great basshead headphones, and they're very portable for full-size cans. I personally think they look awesome as well, but that's up to you to decide. You can afford the Pro 750 at ~$270, but you'll also like the lower-end models like the HFI-780 ($150) and HFI-580 ($120). The Audio Technica Pro 700 Mk. II is also a bass cannon, as well as the M-Audio Q40. When I get the headphone guide in the OP back up, you can look through it and see the other options, too.

I...Hate...You. i really want to get those Ultrasone hfi-780now lol, im still keeping the beats i have now but i read some reveiws on the ultrasones and people are saying the bass is awsome. Btw there $250 not $150

Here's the best price I could find on the HFI-780. B&H is a very good place to buy from as well and they tend to have very good prices! Ordering is not available now, but it'll be back soon.

I'm going to be getting my Pro 900s from B&H when they're back down to $310.

Music preference/genre: J-Pop, J-Rock, Mandopop

Type/form factor and portability: either over-ear/ straight down IEMs (microphonics shouldn't be too bad) or circumaural headphones.

Sources: Sansa Clip+ Rockboxed, LG G2X Voodoo, Walkman E438F

I have the CX300s, CKM55s, M6s, iM-590s, ProAlphas, and A151s, but I've always found the treble extension to be very lacking with either roll-off or grain at the top. I've also been left wanting for a wider soundstage. I do like the detail of the mids and extension of the bass in the A151, but its unsuitability for electronic instruments in general and its treble roll-off have left me disappointed.

Also, I've read through every page of this thread and have found your opinion of Beats, Skullcandy and other "sub-standard" headphones to be very polarizing. Yes the majority of them do underperform in their price bracket but the Beats have been noted by many Head-fiers to not sound as terrible as you would exaggerate them to be, and Skullcandy has been applauded by enthusiasts for their new lineup. I understand the need to educate consumers about price/performance ratios, but isn't there a way to do that without insulting them and potentially scaring them away?

How about posting actual frequency graphs for all IEMs that you and ishcabible have to back them up? Add the Beats just for reference.

Sweet; someone asking for freq graphs! (Demmit, they aren't showing)

Sadly, Tyll hasn't measured very many IEM's that we recommend because, well, Tyll's a very busy man (and it's probably a lot harder to make a good seal on a dummy, so they'd measure differently), but here's the best I can do:

IEM's aren't very myriad in the selectable products (if I ever get more money than sense, I'll build one of these myself for everyone else) so here are a few very popular IEM's
[img]http://graphs.headphone.com/graphCompare.php?graphType=0&graphID[]=1383&graphID[]=733&graphID[]=3251&graphID[]=3481[/img]

If we can venture past IEM's and go into headphones:
[img]http://graphs.headphone.com/graphCompare.php?graphType=0&graphID[]=1383&graphID[]=3131&graphID[]=1973&graphID[]=1193[/img]

Look at the XB700's bass!

And the A151's are incredibly shelved in the top end for a BA. That's why I like them.

I think you should make it a policy of yours to ignore these type of posts. They're obviously just trying to troll your thread.

Oo what's with that massive drop in volume between 5000-10000Hz for the HD25-1's? A bit overcompensated, don't you think?

I don't know. A simple "Read the OP" isn't much of a waste of time, and their trolls are unsuccessful. TTG sucks at trolling.

Wow, that is a huge drop. Although technically, the Solos compete with these. Here's the graph. Be thankful the HD 25-1s don't drop off at 500 Hz and never come back!

Next time someone shows up talking about how good the Beats sound, why not show them these graphs ? The cheap fakes actually looked better than the real ones in measurements.
