Missed this. If you want local, you're kind of optionless. The Philips Stretch is cheap and not horrible.
And above, you have a budget. If not, then the Heir Audio 8.A, JH Audio JH 16, Ultimate Ears UE18, or on the cheap, Unique Melody Merlin will work nicely.

Wish I could help, since I didn't go to bed for another few hours.
You got me looking at Manufaktur headphones though...I was tempted until I found that Beyer offers basically no cool customization for the DT880.
The DT990 allows for the cover to be customized:

But the DT880 doesn't:

And they're also ridiculously expensive when you factor that you can get a plain one for less than half if you lurk in the used market enough.

My friend bought the Beyerdynamic aviation cans (HS 200, I believe?) because he... Aviates, and he customized them. He still hasn't shown me, though, but I did get the velour pads out of it since he didn't want them. I guess he uses gels or something. He had a lot of fun customizing them, though, and I really like that Beyer has this.

I really wish the prices were more down to earth though. $8 for painting a tiny piece of plastic (each part is another $8) is kind of ludicrous.

Hey, if that's what you want, it's worth it. It looks really, really nice, too. I'd never do it, personally, but you have to remember that people actually buy Beats.

It does look pretty cool. I wonder how hard it'd be to paint them myself though. They'd definitely not look as nice but... I'm probably going to end up getting a DT880 and doing a closed back mod because everything else seems to be a compromise so I might as well get the one I've already tried and liked.

I'd go for the Philips Citiscape Uptown. They're $150 in the US, but 70 GBP in the UK. Seems like a steal to me, I've recommended them for their US price! They should be good for your music preference, too. The V-Moda LP would be good as well, but you're getting shafted in the UK with them.
