The Ultrasone Pro 750s woul be a great choice. They're about 225 bucks on Amazon, and do not necessarily need to be amped, but I would look at a Fiio E7 amp/DAC combo for it. It's like an external USB sound card. If you want just a higher quality amp that will keep you under budget, the Fiio E11 would be one of my choices. Since you're listening from a computer, though, a DAC (digital-analog converter) as well as an amp would be nice.

Most people are when they hear them compared to real headphones that are cheaper or the same price.

They are probably not the best buy at that price point, but they're still great IEMs! Etymotic makes great stuff. Look at some Comply foam tips for them. They're supposed to improve sound and comfort by quite a bit.
