Budget: $150 preferably, but $220 won't kill me. (If you could recommend two including the price that'd be great!)
Music preference: From Rock (Coldplay) to Hard rock (Crown The Empire) to EDM (Excision, deadmau5, & Tiesto.)
Type: On ear or over ear, Closed.
Listening from: Xbox 360, Laptop, & my iPhone.
Do you want them to be portable? Portable meaning I can use them on my iPhone yes, other than that I don't really need them to be that portable.
Do they need to isolate well? It won't kill me if they don't.
Is durability a big priority? YES, I just bought SteelSeries after my Turtlebeach X31's broke (after 2 years so I'm not that dissapointed,) but they were JUNK! They broke within 1 month of owning them.
Are these for gaming? I'll be using them for Console at first, but in about a year I'll hopefully switch to PC. If there is a better headset that's better for xbox I'd rather use that.
Do you have any hardware like amps or DACs that you will be using? Not yet, I want to get the Fiios E11 or E17 when I get a job though.
Do you need an amp and/or DAC? Other than those two? Nope xD
Have you had significant experience with certain headphones in the past? Turtlebeach Earforce XLC ($30) Turtlebeach X31 ($90 at the time of purchase,) Sennheiser HD201 ($25) SteelSeries Siberia Frost V2 ($110 + $40 converter to Xbox which turns out the frost V2 is a USB headset so I wasted my money on buying them for console, but I used them for my laptop to talk to friends on skype and I was dissapointed with them.)

AKG K181DJ or a V-Moda Crossfade LP2 if you can find one in your budget.
Also, sadness; my DT990 deal will probably fall through. I should probably just keep these as a remembrance that Beyer can definitely suck.

I'm not aware of any good headphones for console gaming within that budget. Sorry.

Well he could get an Audio Technica AD700 if he won't listen to music.

The problem is compatibility with the console and a mic.
