This will not work for everyone but it will work for a lot of you. Posting this may also make it so it wont work for very long but here goes.
1) Make a new email somewhere that is exactly the same as your gamertag. example figharo @ yahoo.com. It can be email from ANY email provider so just find one that lets you do it. Listing of free web based email providers: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
2) If it is not a hotmail, make it into a Windows Live ID at live.com.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] **warning: do not go to xbox.com after this step because it will automatically use this email to create a new account**
3) Make sure you know the details on this account WELL, it's going to be your new live ID and therefor your new login information.
4) Change your WLID on the xbox dashboard to this new one by going to My Xbox>Select Profile>Manage Account>Your Information>Windows Live ID>Change Windows Live ID. NOTE: You can only do this once in a 30 day timeframe. If you have changed your WLID recently it may not work.
5) Once your WLID is the same as your gamertag, call up Microsoft (18004MYXBOX) and request a gamertag change because your WLID is the same as your gamertag and you are worried about your account security. They cannot make your change your WLID because of the 30 day restriction they added recently so they must change your gamertag instead.
Yes this works for now and you can only do it once every 30 days but it's free.

The support people cant tell WHEN you changed your WLID I dont think because I have done this with several GTs and no one has ever said, "Hey you just changed your WLID 5 minutes ago!". I do know that they do it right on the phone and I get a popup on my console that says I have to change my GT.

When you call what is the first thing you say, out of curiosity?

"A few of my friends got their accounts hacked and Im kinda nervous that mine will be too cause my GT and my WLID are the same and I hear that is not safe. I cant change my WLID because it says I have to wait for 30 days. Can you guys change my GT so that hackers wont be able to know what my email is?"
