I have a mini laptop(compaq) that runs perfectly fine. It has a decent processor and RAM. My brothers laptop(HP) which is worth double the amount has a way better processor and about 3x the RAM. I run my laptop pretty hard and my brother will have like one program on and it will be laggy. So I wanted to use his to make a homegroup and it won't let him. He has windows 7 premium. I ran the troubleshooter and it didn't detect any problems. So I took the laptops to our friends house. My mini laptop was able to connect to his homegroup right away. On the other hand his laptop didn't work. Yet again the troubleshooter couldn't find any problems. Could someone please help us out. We checked all the websites.

Is yours a Netbook? It could be that OR it's the Network really and the computer is not compatible.
Also troubleshooting won't ever do anything. It's just there for show, nothing special.

You pay for the computer specs, not how it functions. Depending on what he downloads, might make the computer slower, or worse.

Programs and/or viruses will slow down the computer drastically so maybe try uninstalling programs that aren't used often or scan the laptop for viruses.
