there may be a problem with the wire, maybe it got frayed a little but
this could be the problem depending on how much you use it

I have had x11's for around the same time and i had a similar issue. I tried for about a week but i couldn't figure them out. So I sent them back in to be repaired, they sent them back and they worked for another month or two. Then i just upgraded to x41's. 8) So my suggestion would be to maybe send them into to TB, to be repaired. Other than that i don't know.

if the light on red it means the mic is muted. But if you cant hear the game volume get them repaired
