Remove the faceplate from the console after unplugging it from the outlet. The detachment slot is located on the bottom right side if the unit is upright, and on the top right side if the unit is horizontal. Pull the slot and hold the unit until the faceplate pops off. Lay the unit horizontally.
Use a straightened paper clip, and locate a hole on the left hand side, directly underneath the black disk drive about a third of the way in. There is a white manual eject lever inside of the hole, and pushing it with the paper clip will pop open the tray. The paper clip needs to be straight and stiff so it can reach through the hole and push on the lever hard.
Try the second hole right next to the first, about a third of the way in from the left, and use the paper clip to turn the small gear that is visible inside the hole. This gear helps to move the tray open. Straighten the paper clip if necessary.
Locate the third hole, which is on the right side, directly underneath the X3 in the Xbox360 engraved on the disk drive. Stick the paper clip in the hole and try to depress the lever. Press hard on the lever to manually eject the drive.
Pull gently on the tray once the manual ejects to open it all the way up. The disk should be visible and is now safe to remove.
