Alright so I am needing to buy a new laptop for school work and maybe a little gaming.
I know the two are like wtfzz opposite but that's what I want.

I need a new laptop or a desktop.

Prices: Around $1000 or $1200 is fine, that's all I'm willing to do.

Mostly what I want is something that gets the job done good and fast.

If I sound like a dumbass, lol sorry.

Go.

Build one yourself, or get an Alieware. They're high end.

Get a desktop, no ifs, no buts. Desktop = better.
Desktop's are usually cheaper for better hardware, look at HP's don't get a Dell. If you want something portable, I suggest you get a more powerful Desktop for like $800 or so, then a cheapy net book.

If you want a laptop for gaming, I would recommend the alienware m11x, or m14x

For everyone here saying get alienware. Don't -.- they're style trends with admittedly good hardware but build quality isn't good. If you want a decent computer to last you a couple of years I suggest either making your own like Piv suggested or buying another brand. I know Dell owns Alienware, but compared, Dell has a much better build quality compared. Either way, I'd just plain avoid them.

buy a new laptop for school work

A $400 laptop could do schoolwork.

You didn't list what games you want to play, so it's hard to suggest something.

Whatever you do, stay away from Alienware and Macs.

Don't make a massive mistake and buy an AlienWare. They're overpriced. Instead, I recommend searching 'Vibox' on eBay, and see what comes up. They make custom PCs, and have a massive range of prices. I bought the cheapest computer from them (It cost me about 175GBP) and it's the best computer I've ever bought!
