Okay, with vetran gear there will be a title update, short of the games release.
Here are some facts.
In the final version of the game, the VG unlock is "VG = Gold Gnasher"
After TU#1 (which may update more then just the VG but that is irrelevant in this
thread) unlock is "VG = Gold weapon skin set"
Playing the game early is ok, but once the game checks and sees you have VG, it
edits your GPD and cannot be changed. Once unlocked, it is set and cannot be fixed
Playing offline on your account will not work. It is not XBL that checks your account, it is the game. Online of Offline, it is still checked so just play on another , account (online so that way when the TU is up, you will know!)
IT IS NOT A PUNISHMENT, IT IS SIMPLY THE MATTER OF THE TU NOT BEING LIVE YET
The TU will be up and ready at least as early as midnight GMT

Onyx (Only obtained by getting 6,000 MP kills with the relevant weapon. Lancer = 6,000 Lancer kills, Gnasher = 6,000, etc.)
Gold Omen (Earn level 100 in Gears 3)
Flaming (Beta Unlock ONLY, Retro TBA)
Chrome (Hmmerburst for"Dirty, Dirty Horde" achievement Gears 2, Sawed-Off for ANY Gears PC achievement, Gnasher is obtained by completing the Gears 1,2 and 3 campaigns on any difficulty, Lancer is earned by the "Don't hate the player" Ranked Gears 1 achievement, Retro is gotten through "Domination" achievement in Gears 1)

So if I get a dummy account with level 100 and do the glitch to copy the rank onto mine, and unlock VG. Do I still get the Gold Gnasher.

All you need is the VG achivement and you will get Weapon skin.
they can't see your rank, all they can see is the achivement.
