Banned Gamertag Change Question

So, I got banned for marketplace theft and I'm just here for a simple question.
I just don't want to lose the gamertag on that account, so I was thinking that if I sign in using the glitch where you tap the xbox button while you are signing in, I could then redeem points and change the gamertag to a random one, then on my second account change it to the new available one.
So my question is, will I be able to redeem the points and/or change the gamertag?
