I doubt the first poster knows MySQL, PHP, C++, or Java.

First, games do not require MySQL, PHP, C++, or Java, unless they are for a PC, iPod/iPad/iPhone.

Yes but he is making a OMRPG, which requires some sort of database in this sense "Mysql". Some sort of object oriented programming in this sense "Java" for front end as it can be distributed widely and "C++" for backend as it's so much more complex and security wise superior. Last but not least, he's going to need some sort of scripting language for dynamic website pages, in this sense "Php".

So yes, I would say for this type of game you would need all 4 of the programming/scripting languages mentioned.

Also, It doesn't matter if he does or not, if he doesn't he can just learn from the other programmers of his team.
