I called a friend of mine that works for he xbox support team and asked to disclose any kind of information that he has on the situation.
This is what he told me:
Me:"Chris, what the hell happened to the servers?"
Chris:"There was an attack on the entire server and we are recovering it right now."
Me:"How long will that take?"
Chris:"Anywhere from 30mins.-6hours."

So there you have it TTG that is what I have got from the friend of mine. It makes you wonder who or what did it and will information be taken? Who knows.......
