This is my theory on 2012 all we know is that the mayans have that calendar that ends on 2012 and some ancient texts that say something big will happen. Many people think that that 'something' will be something terrible but what if that change was good, a big change but a good change. Why does everything have to be bad! This is just my theory dont flame.

Honestly i don't think anything will happen, even if its for the good like you say. The "doomsday" has "happened" so many times in our history. every generation believes it will be the last and the hysteria and paranoia that flows out of that is greatly exaggerating the fears and insecurities of mankind.

That's what i told my family when they mentioned the Mayan Calender.. and this was like 4 years ago.. i was around 13 years old. "What if they didnt have enough room to go beyond 2012?". My parents laughed and said "We never thought of that" . Of course people dont think anymore... all these theories and threats are getting people scared that when someone says something, theres no time to think.. we simply pass around what we heard.
In the end i think us the humans will end the existence of humanity.

Just because the Egyptian thing went up to 2012 doesn't mean something is going to happen, it is just like a calender restarting every year.

Ok we have centuries, millenniums and all that. The Mayans had eras. 2012 was the year that a new era would start, hence the calender ending.
